Hello, everyone and happy Friday! We made it to the end of the week and to the last day of picks (don't worry, I'll be back on Monday)!
After splitting my first two bets last night, it was all up to the Yanks, and they - specifically Aaron Judge - came through, jabbing a knife in the hearts of A's fans everywhere.
I usually don't do this, but I'm going to be giving a little sneak peak into what's coming below (or, more accurately, what won't be).
I won't be betting the NY at Oakland game because going against New York any day now is just idiotic, and I believe the winning streak will be snapped tonight. Oakland played the Yanks a lot better than anyone expected last night, and Sean Manaea (a lefty) will be pitching tonight. He threw 5.1 strong innings last time these two met, losing a 2-1 ballgame.
I think the Yankees won't have things going their way offensively for the first time in forever and the A's win a close one.
Also, for whatever reason, bad things just tend to happen when Gerrit Cole pitches. Most of the time it's not even his fault; it's just that New York failed to cover the run line three out of his last four appearances.
The Yankees seem to be what everyone loves talking about now, and I just wanted to get that off my chest.
Now, off to the bets! Only have two tonight, so let's go for that light sweep!
MLB
Rays -1.5 -145
The Orioles suck AND Matt Harvey is pitching!
Each time Harvey pitched against the Rays this year, he gave up at least five runs and the O's lost by at least seven runs.
Unless Shane McClanahan forgets how to pitch or the Orioles catch lightning in a bottle, this should be pretty quick and painless.
I could give more stats, but it'll only further show how one-sided this game will be.
Tigers F5 ML +145
Just like with fading the D-Backs, I never seem to learn with the Tigers because I'm back with them again.
Detroit is like that toxic ex-girlfriend that just never seems to exit your mind, and after all the emotional pain they cause, it just makes you want them more.
Coming back to Earth a bit, the Tigers are winners of three of the last five games. They hit lefties hard, too.
At least to me, hot team + favorable opposing pitching = money in the bank.
Steven Matz, the Blue Jays' lefty referenced above, is also 1-3 in his last three road contests.
Additionally, as a reminder, I bet first five innings with the Tigers because their bullpen is known to fold toward the end of games.
Take the plus money with Detroit here.
To close, the only things I'm envisioning tonight is a 2-0 betting slate, baseball on my TV and an ice cold beer in my hand. As long as two of those things get accomplished tonight, I'll be a happy man. Catch you next week!
