Matt's Picks of the Day (5-8 week; 25-30 overall)

Happy Friday to everyone who decided to check out the latest edition of my betting explanations!

Yesterday was my first non-losing day of the week, which isn't good by any means, but at least I'm getting somewhere.

On the bright side, I'm still undefeated betting any kind of football, so at least you can pay closer attention to those!

My college football picks will be coming tomorrow and my NFL picks will be coming on Sunday, but my last MLB slate of picks for the week will be today.

I have four plays tonight in my attempt to end this week on a high note.

MLB

Phillies ML -145

I'm taking a Phillies squad that's desperate for a win in their continued hunt for a playoff spot against the Rockies in this one.

Colorado on the road and playing a righty is a combination I'm always looking out for, and I finally got it tonight!

While the Rockies are actually pretty good in front of their fans, they are dreadful on the road with a 19-50 record on the year. They are also terrible against righties with a 39-61 record this season.

I like the Phillies here too because of their home dominance and preference of right-handed pitching. Germán Márquez isn't just some average righty, but he does struggle much more on the road, and I think Philly is going to get to him tonight.

This play is ,much more about that Rockies trend than my love of the Phillies, but nevertheless, take the Phillies tonight.

Brewers ML -140

I'm getting a fantastic Brewers team at a massive discount tonight against the Indians.

Milwaukee is one of those teams that loves traveling for whatever reason with a 46-24 record on the road and they love right-handed pitching, coming into this game with a 68-40 record against one.

Eli Morgan is starting for the Indians, and he has shown that while he isn't ineffective by any means, he can get blown up by the right team. A Brewers team that is winners of four of five games is what I would qualify as the "right team."

The Indians haven't necessarily been impressive, and they will have the tall task of hitting against Adrian Houser.

This just doesn't look like Cleveland's best spot to steal a game against one of the MLB's best teams.

Angels F5 ML +155

This is a fantastic spot to get some money as I have Los Angeles in a great value spot here against the Astros.

MVP front-runner Shohei Ohtani is on the mound tonight for the Angels, and he simply has a lot of good luck in his starts, including a seven-inning domination of the Astros earlier in the season. He also has won in five of his last six starts.

Also, Los Angeles is a fan of left-handed pitchers, and they will be facing Framber Valdez tonight. He's the type of guy that could allow two or three runs while Ohtani handles the Astros on the other side.

I'm not calling for a win here, just enough of a hot start by the Angels to put them in front after five innings.

Athletics -1.5 +105

Another game to bet on with insanely favorable trends!

The Athletics will be playing the Rangers tonight, and while Oakland has been on a roll as of late, this bet is mainly just a fade of Texas.

They are 20-51 away and 28-57 against right-handed pitching.

The Rangers have been on a weird four-game winning streak, and I believe the A's will bring Texas down to Earth here.

A's for the win!
