Yesterday I referred to myself as a blind squirrel, but you know what happens when that squirrel finds two nuts? I call that a trend.
With my second sweep of the week, things are looking real fantastic over here as I'm approaching 50% with my picks. Tonight, I'm giving myself the chance to cross that line.
I have three lovely plays today that I'm very excited to share with everyone. As we get closer and closer to Friday, the vibes keep getting better, and I sure hope my picks do too!
Let's get started!
MLB
Phillies ML -145
It's fade the D-Backs day!
I've been on this trend a ton, and, oddly enough, I've gotten burned by it more than I'm comfortable with.
When Arizona is playing a lefty, they are 9-25. When Arizona is away, they are 16-49. When they both come together, I make a bet.
The numbers may very well be on my side here, but I'm still shocked over how the Phillies got swept by this same D-Backs team a week ago. The scenery has changed, and I'm banking on the morale changing as well, which is still to be determined.
Anyway, the Phillies hit right-handed pitching hard, and the person throwing to them tonight will be Zac Gallen, a righty who has won once in his last 13 appearances.
Matt Moore - a lefty who can be shaky at times - will be starting for Philly, and I'm just hoping the trend can offset some of the suspect circumstances surrounding this game.
Red Sox -1.5 -145
After splitting the first two games of the series, I have the Red Sox taking the rubber game by at least two runs.
Things simply aren't looking fantastic for the Twins in this spot today. They are 25-38 away from Minnesota and 13-28 against lefty pitchers. This isn't just some lefty pitcher they will be facing tonight either; they will be facing one of the best in the game in Chris Sale.
Since coming off the IL, Sale is 2-0 in his only two starts (covering the run line in both games too) with a combined two runs allowed and 13 strikeouts. So, I can say confidently he is returning to prime form.
John Gant is taking the mound for the Twins, and he's only covered the run line twice in his 16 total losses, meaning it's safe to say that when he loses, it's usually by a good amount.
The Sox enjoy right-handed pitching as well, so I think the Red Sox will have a fun time with Gant while Sale keeps the lead under control.
Yankees ML -121
Two days ago, I said there will be no reason not to take the Yankees when playing a righty in the near future. I meant that, and I will be taking them tonight for that reason.
New York is winners of 11 straight, and they are showing no signs of slowing down. I'm going to keep riding the streak until it dies, in all honesty, because I don't know when it will.
Additionally, Jameson Taillon is pitching for the Yankees tonight, and he is 10-1 in his last 11 starts.
All the Yanks need to do is win by one run against an A's team that is cold as ice and losers of four straight games? Sign me up!
That's all folks! I'll be back here again tomorrow to close out the week. Until then, enjoy your Thursday, and let's make some money!
