I ended yesterday's post by saying I would be celebrating last night's performance, but... things didn't go as planned.
The Yankees continued to struggle, the Astros fell apart at the end after Lance McCullers, Jr. put on a show and the Marlins simply couldn't cash my blind back half a of doubleheader pick.
Today, I'm going to keep fighting with three picks that I feel fantastic about.
Just as everyone tries to get over the weekly hump on hump day, I will be attempting to do the same with my picks today!
MLB
Reds game #2 -1.5 +130
The money line was a little too large for my liking, so I'm taking the run line route for the back half of this doubleheader.
You know the drill. The Cardinals won game one, so we're going to take the Reds for game two.
To be frank, I would feel comfortable putting money on this game nonetheless. I like Sonny Gray a lot and think J.A. Happ is washed. It's also fitting that Cincinnati prefers left-handed pitchers over righties too.
I see the Reds batters getting to Happ very quickly with the game possibly getting out of hand in the early innings of the contest.
As a favorite, the Reds are 43-30, too. Love this pick more than last night's Marlins play.
Blue Jays/White Sox ML Parlay -133
I'm back on the Blue Jays for the third time in three days.
Listen, the Orioles are not a good baseball team, and Matt Harvey is pitching. The Blue Jays are a generally good baseball team.
All Toronto needs to do is win against a pitcher that has given up 13 runs across three games to them in the past. Picking Toronto off a loss is an easy play here.
The easier play is backing the White Sox.
Ignoring basically everything I love about Chicago, the Pirates are 11-30 when playing against a left-handed pitcher (Carlos Rodon is on the mound for the Sox) and are 20-46 on the road.
To sweeten the pot even more, Chicago is 45-23 at home.
Do the right thing and take these teams together because picking them alone has no value.
Red Sox ML +105
Boston is not a hot team right now, and I'm aware Tampa Bay is.
Analytics aside, when I see a team drop the first two games of a series, I tend to think that team will take the third.
Even if I didn't believe in that, Chris Sale is pitching tonight for the Sox, and the Rays struggle mightily against lefties.
Sale has given up four runs in three games and has fanned 21. I think he's going to keep the game low-scoring, and it'll just be up to the Red Sox to put some runs on the board.
They also have to be looking at the standings and viewing this game as a must-win.
I'd take a flier on this game for the value alone.
Let's have a Wednesday and get some W's baby!
