Matt's Picks of the Day (0-0 week; 5-10 overall)

Happy Monday, everyone!

Hope everyone had a good weekend and enjoyed their time recuperating before another big week of handicapping games!

Last week was a bit of a bummer as I haven't experienced that cold of a streak in weeks. Maybe it's just the curse of making your picks public, but I'm hoping to shake that off quickly as I have three spicy picks for you guys to start the week strong!

Also as a slight disclaimer, if I continue to struggle, instead of looking at me as a shitty sports better, look at me as an AUTOMATIC provider of picks to fade! If I'm terrible, the only person losing here should be me.

Let's dive in!

MLB

Blue Jays ML -112

My first pick to kick off the week will be the Jays attempting to dismantle a cold White Sox squad.

Yes, Toronto hasn't been all that hot as of late either, but I like some trends in favor of the Jays here.

While the Sox may be a juggernaut in Chicago, they are a mediocre team anywhere else with a record of 30-30. Chicago may also hit lefties hard, but they sadly won't be seeing one tonight with Alek Manoah hitting the mound tonight for the Jays. He had a pretty impressive showing against the White Sox earlier this season as well, allowing only one earned run and four hits over five innings in a 6-2 win.

I've hopped on this trend a ton recently, but Chicago is 8-18 in games where they are a betting underdog, and we've approached fade Chicago territory again tonight as they are not favored.

The scary good Lance Lynn is starting tonight for the White Sox, but the Blue Jays play well against righties, and I believe they could possibly rough him up, or at least enough to get a close dub.

Yankees ML -110

This is less of a "follow the trends" play and more of a play based on a team this hot getting THIS MUCH value.

The Yanks have won NINE IN A ROW, and I should just lay off in a pick-em? Nope.

I'm aware the Braves are equally as hot, but, truthfully, their competition over the last nine games has been much easier.

The Braves like their lefties, and they are getting one tonight in Jordan Montgomery. The Yankees like their righties, and they are getting one tonight in Huascar Ynoa. To me, this will be a game of in the best of situations, who will prevail? My pick is the Yankees.

This is a team you cannot bet against at this point in time.

Cubs ML -122

This must be one of the first times in a while you saw you someone pick the Cubs right?

If this bets loses, I won't be surprised because, well, I took the Cubs, but I also love a lot of things happening in this matchup.

The Rockies are 14-45 on the road this season and 34-51 against right-handed pitchers. If things could get any worse for the Rockies, the right hander that they will face tonight is Kyle Hendricks, Chicago's ace.

Good things don't tend to happen to the Cubs, but they are definitely more common when this man is on the mound.

To win this game, all the Cubs will need is probably two to three runs, and they will be batting against Antonio Senzatela, who gave up four runs on seven hits the last time these two teams played.

The Cubs, simply, are a better home team, too, and when they are supposed to win, they do three out of five times.

Give me the Cubs, and give me a sweep on a Monday baby!
